Authorities have detained an individual for questioning in connection with the abduction of Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of Today show anchor Savannah Guthrie, a law enforcement official told ABC News.

The person was stopped during a traffic stop south of Tucson, according to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department. A court-authorized search is now underway at a location in Rio Rico, Arizona, with assistance from the FBI’s Evidence Response Team.

Officials said the operation could last several hours.

The development comes after the FBI released newly recovered surveillance images showing a masked and armed individual outside Nancy Guthrie’s home around the time she disappeared on Feb. 1. The footage appears to show the person tampering with a doorbell camera.

There is currently no indication that the detained individual is the same person seen in the video.

Nancy Guthrie was reported missing after her doorbell camera disconnected in the early morning hours of Feb. 1.

A ransom demand sent to the family over the weekend passed without resolution. The FBI said it continues to work around the clock and is urging anyone with information to come forward.
