Kaley Cuoco on sleeping in separate beds with fiancé Tom Pelphrey has been a 'game changer'
Cuoco explains that the couple has different bedtime routines and go to bed at separate times at night

Kaley Cuoco is opening up about her and fiancé Tom Pelphrey’s unconventional sleeping arrangement, revealing that the couple now sleep in separate beds and that the change has brought unexpected benefits to their relationship.
During a recent appearance on the Armchair Expert podcast, the Big Bang Theory star explained that she and Pelphrey found it increasingly difficult to share a bed due to their differing sleep habits and nighttime routines. Pelphrey, who is a self‑described night owl, would stay up late reading and writing, while Cuoco prefers to head to bed earlier, leading to friction and disrupted rest.
“He was like, ‘I can’t do this anymore,’” Cuoco said of Pelphrey’s decision to begin sleeping in the guest room. At first, she admitted, she was concerned about how others might perceive the arrangement. But after couples therapy helped them consider what truly worked for their dynamic, she agreed to try it — and quickly saw the benefits.
Cuoco described the switch as one of the “best decisions we ever made,” noting that the separate bedrooms allow both partners to sleep more comfortably and wake up refreshed. She explained that Pelphrey now sleeps without the disruptions of pets and early morning stirrings, while she enjoys peaceful rest and quality time with their daughter Matilda in the mornings.
The actress acknowledged that their choice might challenge traditional expectations of couples sleeping together but stressed that what matters most is what makes the relationship healthier and happier. Cuoco and Pelphrey first met in 2022, welcomed Matilda in 2023, got engaged in 2024, and have continued to find ways to adapt and support each other’s needs.
