A24 has acquired the rights to an untitled erotic thriller spec script written by British writer Dylan Brady, following a competitive bidding war among top studios and streamers.

Nicole Kidman is in early talks to star in the project, which centers on a struggling actor who takes a nannying job for a high-profile couple, only to become entangled in a dangerous scheme.

The script, initially titled Discretion, ranked second on the 2025 Brit List, which highlights top unproduced scripts in the U.K. and Ireland. Brady, a relatively unknown writer with one produced episodic credit for Netflix’s Everything Now, attracted major attention from studios including Netflix, Amazon, Apple, FX, and Peacock. A24 reportedly secured the project with a seven-figure deal after a 24-hour preemptive bid, with discussions for lead roles already underway.

Brady described the series as a modern take on classic erotic thrillers, drawing inspiration from films like Fatal Attraction, Eyes Wide Shut, and Sunset Boulevard. He explained the project aims to subvert traditional storytelling by exploring the thriller through a queer lens and shifting conventional gender roles in the narrative.

The project marks a high-profile move for Brady, who has appeared as an actor in series such as Andor, The Diplomat, and Coronation Street, while continuing to develop other original projects for U.K. and international platforms. A24’s acquisition reflects the ongoing resurgence of the erotic thriller genre, joining upcoming series including Netflix’s Hancock Park and Peacock’s Teach Me.

The untitled thriller is expected to undergo further creative refinements as it moves into production, with A24 leveraging its track record of developing high-profile, award-caliber projects.
