HBO Max sets March 26 launch in UK and Ireland with four subscription tiers

HBO Max has confirmed it will launch as a standalone streaming platform in the United Kingdom and Ireland on March 26, according to an announcement reported by Variety.

The service will feature programming from HBO, Warner Bros. Pictures, Warner Bros. Television, DC Studios and Max Originals. Subscribers in the U.K. will be able to choose from four pricing tiers. Two ad-supported plans will cost £4.99 and £5.99 per month, with the higher-priced option including downloads and access to newer releases. Two ad-free tiers will be priced at £9.99 and £14.99 per month, with the top package offering 4K Ultra HD and Dolby Atmos where available.

TNT Sports will continue to be offered either as a standalone service or as an add-on for £30.99 per month. At launch, TNT Sports content will move from the Discovery+ app to HBO Max, though Discovery+ will remain available separately. Sports coverage will include Premier League and UEFA Champions League football, Grand Slam tennis, Grand Tour cycling and the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games.

Scripted programming available at launch will include the full first season of The Pitt starring Noah Wyle, both seasons of Euphoria, House of the Dragon and the debut of DC’s Lanterns. Library titles will feature complete runs of Friends, Succession, The Sopranos and Game of Thrones. Upcoming releases include Season 3 of Euphoria, Season 2 of The Pitt and a new Harry Potter television series slated for 2027.

Films will also be offered on the platform, although the lowest-priced ad-supported tier will not include recent theatrical releases such as Sinners, One Battle After Another, Superman and A Minecraft Movie.

JB Perrette, president of global streaming at Warner Bros. Discovery, said the launch brings together the company’s brands and storytelling for audiences in the U.K. and Ireland in one direct-to-consumer platform. Andrew Georgiou, president of Warner Bros. Discovery U.K. and Ireland, described the rollout as a significant development for regional viewers, highlighting the combination of entertainment and premium sports content.

HBO Max will be accessible via its app, hbomax.com and through distribution partners Sky and Amazon on major devices including televisions, smartphones and tablets. Pre-registration on the App Store and Google Play begins March 12.

Originally launched in the United States in 2020, HBO Max has since expanded to more than 110 territories across Latin America, Europe and Asia.
