Jack Antonoff faces backlash for vague ice out pin response at 2026 grammys
Jack Antonoff wore an ICE Out pin at the 2026 Grammys but struggled to explain its significance clearly

Jack Antonoff faced backlash after giving an unclear response regarding the “ICE Out” pin he wore during the 2026 Grammy Awards on Sunday night. The pin has been worn by several celebrities to protest actions by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), following the deaths of Alex Pretti and Renee Nicole Good and ongoing anti-ICE demonstrations in the United States.

During a red carpet interview with Variety, Antonoff struggled to explain his reasons for wearing the pin. When asked about its significance, he replied with fragmented statements such as, “It’s, it’s terrible, you know… for every reason you could imagine, I would think,” and described himself as “bit speechless trying to even talk about it.” He also added that he hoped small communities could help address the issue.
Responses on social media quickly criticized Antonoff’s remarks as vague and performative. Users suggested his statements appeared cautious and “brand-safe,” with one calling it “peak ‘brand safe allyship’ energy,” while others questioned the sincerity of wearing the pin without clearly understanding the cause.
The 2026 Grammys featured multiple stars highlighting the ICE controversy, including the deaths of children and adults during enforcement actions. Antonoff’s attempt to comment drew particular attention due to the contrast between his pin display and his limited explanation.
