TikTok users across the United States are reporting ongoing problems with their For You Pages following a major platform outage that occurred several hours earlier.

According to user accounts, the disruption initially caused videos to fail to post, display zero views or prevent users from logging back in after signing out. While many of these technical issues have since been resolved, users say the platform’s recommendation feed remains unreliable and poorly personalised.

Several users have described feeds repeatedly showing the same videos, including content they have already marked as “not interested”. Others report being served AI-generated videos, YouTube Shorts-style clips, or posts from months ago that bear no relation to their viewing habits. Some users are also seeing foreign-language videos and random influencer content they have never previously engaged with.

One Reddit user said their feed appeared to have been completely reset, resembling that of a new account rather than one shaped by years of interaction. Others noted that videos they had liked weeks or months earlier were resurfacing with their previous interactions still visible.

This is not the first time TikTok users have experienced similar issues. In December, reports emerged of a bug that caused older content to dominate the For You Page instead of fresh uploads, prompting concerns that personalisation data had been affected.

The current issues come as TikTok finalises a deal with Oracle to establish a new US-based entity. As part of the arrangement, the platform’s recommendation algorithm will be retrained using American user data and secured within Oracle’s cloud infrastructure. TikTok has also recently updated its privacy policy, which drew attention for outlining the types of sensitive data the app may collect, although those provisions were added in 2024.

Some users believe server-side changes are still underway, citing videos stuck in review, irrelevant search results and missing coverage of recent news events. For now, many users say the personalised experience that defines TikTok remains disrupted.
