Dolly Parton celebrates 80th birthday with new music releases and charity support
Dolly Parton marks 80 with new rendition of “Light of a Clear Blue Morning” and charity support for pediatric cancer

Country music icon Dolly Parton is celebrating her 80th birthday with the release of a special new version of her 1977 classic, “Light of a Clear Blue Morning.”
The reimagined track features contributions from Lainey Wilson, Queen Latifah, Reba McEntire, and Parton’s goddaughter, Miley Cyrus. Esteemed producer David Foster adds piano accompaniment, while The Christ Church Choir provides additional harmonies.
Originally written in 1976 during a period of personal renewal, the song remains one of Parton’s most uplifting and motivational works. The updated release carries a message of hope and positivity aimed at reaching a new generation of listeners. Proceeds from the single and its accompanying music video will benefit pediatric cancer research at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt in Nashville, Tennessee, continuing Parton’s long-standing philanthropic efforts.
In honor of her milestone, Tennessee has declared a statewide “Dolly Parton Day.” Governor Bill Lee praised Parton for her lasting impact on music and culture, describing the tribute as a fitting recognition of her legacy.
Parton’s 80th birthday comes after health concerns caused her to cancel several December concerts in Las Vegas. She reassured fans with a social media video, humorously stating, “I ain’t dead yet!” Despite challenges, Parton’s musical contributions and charitable work highlight her enduring influence in both entertainment and philanthropy.
