HYDERABAD:

Authorities in Hyderabad have launched a large-scale anti-encroachment operation to clear 55 feet of land for the construction of a new road along the Pinyari canal, from the bypass to Ghangra Mori and Autobahn Road. More than 15 houses and shops built illegally on government land were demolished during the drive.

The project, being executed under the Works and Services Department, was inaugurated on January 7 by Sindh Minister for Works Ali Hassan.

According to reports, several illegal structures had been established along the canal route, obstructing the road project.

City Assistant Commissio-ner led the operation, beginning near Saima Plaza on Hala Naka Road.
