Pop star Ariana Grande has revealed that she and fellow artist The Weeknd once recorded a batch of songs together that were later abandoned because they “weren’t right for the time,” according to a recent interview report.

In a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter , Grande said she and Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye had collaborated on multiple tracks, but ultimately chose not to release them, explaining that the material didn’t feel appropriate for the moment in their respective careers. Grande told the outlet they had a set of songs together that they “scrapped because they weren’t right for the time.”

This comment arrives amid ongoing fan interest in potential future collaborations between the two artists, who have previously worked together on several successful tracks. The pair first teamed up on “Love Me Harder” in 2014, a standout single from Grande’s My Everything era, and later collaborated on “Off the Table” from her 2020 album Positions, with The Weeknd contributing a guest verse.

Although Grande has recently been focused on acting—most notably starring in the Wicked film adaptations—she continues to tease fans about future music projects. In a separate recent interview, she clarified that while she isn’t planning to release new music imminently due to her busy schedule, she remains committed to her music career and creative output.
