ISLAMABAD:

The Federal Government Employees Housing Authority (FGEHF) has stepped up its evacuation efforts in Sector G-14/1, launching a renewed door-to-door campaign to urge residents and occupants to vacate the land with effect from Monday, January 13, 2026.

Teams from the authority visited households in the area, warning that failure to vacate voluntarily could result in a full-scale enforcement operation within the next two weeks to reclaim the land for development.

Sector G-14/1 forms part of FGEHF's ambitious housing scheme launched in the mid-2000s for federal government employees. However, more than two decades later, the sub-sector remains largely undeveloped.

Despite repeated official announcements, court directives and assurances of possession, progress has remained limited due to persistent challenges, including land acquisition disputes, compensation issues relating to built-up properties (BUPs), and the clearance of illegally occupied or settled areas. The issue has repeatedly featured in media reports, with allottees expressing growing frustration over prolonged delays.

Many original allottees, who were allotted plots around 2005 at subsidised rates, have either passed away while awaiting possession or sold their plots out of despair.

Asghar | 2 weeks ago | Reply This development is being viewed by allottees as a routine and repetitive exercise rather than a meaningful breakthrough. Similar announcements and eviction drives have emerged three to four times every year for over two decades despite court orders each time raising expectations that eventually fade. Can someone state how many such notices have been given and how many times in future these notices would continuously be given. If FGEHA really wanted to evacuate they should have taken some clear and meaningful steps. As a result another such notice does not materially change sentiment as confidence has been eroded by prolonged delays and slow work by FGEHA and repeated assurances that failed to translate into possession. In my opinion without a clear execution timeline and visible on ground delivery this will be seen as another episode in a long running cycle rather than a decisive action.
