Emma Stone says she speaks out loud to ‘ghosts’ in recent interview
Emma Stone tells W Magazine she believes in ghosts and says speaking to them out loud helps her feel better

Emma Stone has said she believes in ghosts and has spoken to them out loud, according to a recent interview with W Magazine. The comments were published on January 6 during a conversation with interviewer Lynn Hirschberg.
During the interview, Hirschberg asked Stone whether she believes in ghosts. According to the publication, the actor replied, “I totally believe in ghosts.”
Stone went on to clarify that she has not seen a ghost but feels their presence frequently. “I’ve never seen one, but I’ve sensed ghosts everywhere, all the time,” she said.
Stone expanded on what she means by “ghosts”, explaining that the feeling can relate to people or past experiences.
“Whether it’s people or my own mistakes or other people’s mistakes,” she said. “I can just feel ghosts on every corner, and they haunt me, clearly, as ghosts do.”
When asked whether she has ever spoken to ghosts, Stone confirmed that she has addressed them aloud. She said, “I have said out loud, ‘We’re all good. You are welcome here.’”
She added, “I wouldn’t like to talk to you or see you right now, but if you’re there, just know I come in peace.”
Stone also discussed why she finds this behaviour helpful. According to W Magazine, she said that speaking out loud to ghosts makes her feel calmer.
“It helps me feel a little bit better and is probably some form of psychosis,” she said, before adding, “But I’m an actor.”
The interview formed part of Stone’s recent press appearances. The actor has been promoting her latest sci-fi film, Bugonia, which was released in US cinemas in late October 2025.
