Police nab kingpin of kidney trafficking gang

Raiwind police claimed to have arrested the ringleader of a gang accused of luring vulnerable citizens with financial incentives to sell their kidneys.

According to police reports, the accused targeted poor and innocent individuals facing financial hardships, enticing them with promises of cash payments. The victims were then transported to a private clinic in Islamabad, where they were held in illegal detention for several days until a deal was finalized with buyers.

Once arrangements were complete, the kidney was surgically removed.

In one documented case, a victim was promised Rs300,000 in exchange for one kidney, but the procedure left the individual's health severely compromised. Police stated that the gang operated systematically, exploiting economic vulnerabilities to facilitate these transactions.

The operation came to light after a complaint from an affected citizen prompted an investigation.

Raiwind police, under the supervision of relevant officials, conducted the arrest and are now interrogating the suspect for further leads. Raids are ongoing across various locations to apprehend other members of the gang.
