Citizens lose millions in street looting spree

FAISALABAD:

Street robbery incidents continue in the city despite repeated warnings, with thieves targeting pedestrians and snatching cash, gold jewelry, mobile phones, and other valuables.

According to police reports, in 67-JB, Airport Police Station area, Razia Sultana was returning from shopping when a rickshaw carrying a man and a woman intercepted her near Sudhar Adda.

They engaged her in conversation, lured her into the vehicle, and persuaded her to hand over gold earrings with the promise of doubling them.

The thieves also took a gold ring and fled with her valuables, abandoning her later on Bypass-Sargodha Road.

In another incident at Nadwala Bangla, Sandal Bar, two thieves tricked Ghulam Dastgir and stole Rs18,000 cash and a mobile phone.

In Gulberg area, a man named Umair was robbed of Rs11,000 and a mobile phone.

In a more serious case at Chuhar Majra Mor, Ghulam Muhammad Abad, a senior citizen carrying Rs1 million from a bank was distracted by the thieves and robbed of the entire amount.

A video of the incident was circulated on social media.

Police have registered cases under Section 420 of the Pakistan Penal Code and launched investigations to track the suspects.

In a separate case on Sargodha Road, three criminals deceived Thouban, son of Rizwan Sohail, at an ATM by replacing his card and using the PIN to steal Rs177,600 before fleeing.
