PESHAWAR:

The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Health Department has established a dedicated Health Task Force to conduct regular inspections and oversee hospitals across the province, officials announced on Wednesday.

The task force will identify operational challenges, enforce strict policy measures, and implement essential steps to ensure healthcare institutions function at their full capacity.

The announcement was made by K-P Health Minister Khaliqur Rehman during a high-level meeting assessing the overall status of primary, secondary, and tertiary care hospitals in Swat district. The session was attended by Provincial Housing Minister Dr Amjad Ali, Members of Provincial Assembly (MPAs) Fazl-e-Hakeem Khan and Mian Sharafat Ali, Health Secretary Shahidullah Khan, district health officers, and medical superintendents.

During the meeting, Health Minister Rahman was briefed on available medical facilities, local requirements, and pressing challenges faced by the hospitals. A key outcome of the session was the unanimous decision to elevate Saidu Medical Teaching Hospital to the status of a Medical Teaching Institution (MTI).
