Man sentenced to life for honour killing

Additional Session Judge found Saddam Hussain Chandio guilty of slaying wife Mehrunissa in Badin in 2022

HYDERABAD:

Man accused of killing his wife for honour has been sentenced to life in prison in a court in Badin district on Tuesday on a complaint filed by the state. The Additional Session Judge Muhammad Tahir Abbassi found Saddam Hussain Chandio guilty of slaying his wife Mehrunissa in Khoski area of Badin in 2022.

The court also convicted him for another term of three years in jail for possessing an unlicensed weapon which was used in the offence. Saddam will also have to pay a Rs500,000 fine as compensation to the woman's family.

The former SHO of Khoski police station, Moolchand Meghwadh, in his charge sheet had even framed the woman's father Jahan Khan Chandio and three other relatives for the murder. However, the court exonerated the other accused persons for want of the incriminating evidence.
