Garbage burners to face cases for air pollution
FIRs to be registered against anyone involved in burning garbage, regardless of affiliation with any organisation

A meeting of Sindh Solid Waste Management was held under the chairmanship of Provincial Minister for Local Government Nasir Hussain Shah, in which it was decided that strict action would be taken against those burning garbage on roads. It was decided that FIRs would be registered against anyone involved in burning garbage, regardless of their affiliation with any organisation.
The meeting was attended by Mayor Karachi Murtaza Wahab, Secretary Local Government, Managing Director Solid Waste Management, and other officers. Town and Union Council Chairmen also participated in the meeting. The Managing Director of Solid Waste Management briefed the meeting.
Addressing the meeting, Nasir Shah said that the Solid Waste Department should strengthen its coordination with all Union Councils and towns. Laws are being formulated to empower Vice Chairmen and Union Councils. He emphasized the need to further strengthen coordination between Union Councils and towns.
Nasir Shah stated that companies awarded contracts must have adequate manpower and machinery. Vehicles fitted with trackers must operate 24 hours a day. Those who fail to perform their duties will be suspended immediately.
