At least three people, including a woman, sustained severe burn injuries in separate fire incidents, while four members of a family were injured in a road accident near Gojra Interchange, officials said on Tuesday. According to Rescue and police sources, the first incident occurred in the Madina Town police limits at Chak 208-RB, Canal Road.
A 24-year-old woman, identified as Allah Maafi, wife of Muhammad Rafiq, was preparing food at home when her clothes caught fire from a stove.
She suffered serious burns and was shifted by rescue teams to the burn unit of Allied Hospital after initial medical assistance.
Doctors said the woman sustained around 70% burns and her condition was described as critical.
In another incident, two people were badly burnt in a fire that broke out at a grocery shop in the Tarkhani police area at Chak 528-GB.
Police said the shopkeepers had turned on an electric heater to keep warm when a short circuit triggered a fire.
As a result, 50-year-old Muhammad Shakeel, and 24-year-old Muhammad Hamad, who were present inside the shop, sustained burn injuries.
Rescue teams shifted both injured men to the burn unit of Allied Hospital after providing first aid.
