AJK election commission sources told APP that according to unofficial results, Gillani emerged victorious with 22,691 votes against Khan, the joint candidate of Muslim Conference and PPP AJK, who bagged 13,843 votes.
Khan, son of outgoing AJK Prime Minister Sardar Attique Ahmed Khan was fielded as joint candidate in the by-elections by the ruling PPP-AJK and Muslim Conference under the policy of reconciliation between the two parties.
Official results of the bye-election will be announced by the AJK election commission soon.
