Rapper 6ix9ine is set to report to federal custody on January 6 and has confirmed he will serve his three-month sentence at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, where Nicolás Maduro and Luigi Mangione are also being held.

The artist, whose real name is Daniel Hernandez, is returning to custody after violating the terms of his supervised release. In a video shared on Monday, he addressed the situation directly, drawing attention to the high-profile nature of his fellow inmates and reflecting on previous experiences in detention.

“Guys remember when I told you I was arrested and in prison with Diddy, the president of Honduras, and Sam Bankman-Fried and you guys thought I was lying? And then it came out that the president of Honduras was like ‘He’s such a cool guy,’ I put Diddy on the phone with Akademiks. Now, I’m about to go meet the president of Venezuela,” he said.

“I have that luck of just being locked up with presidents. Oh, and I’m about to meet Luigi too. I’m about to play chess with them n****s, eat ramen noodles,” he added.

Maduro, described by US authorities as the former president of Venezuela, was detained by American forces last weekend and faces multiple charges, including narco-terrorism conspiracy, cocaine importation conspiracy and weapons-related offences. He has pleaded not guilty and has claimed he remains the leader of a sovereign nation.

Mangione, meanwhile, is awaiting trial after being accused of killing UnitedHealthcare chief executive Brian Thompson in 2024.

MDC Brooklyn has previously housed a number of well-known detainees, including Sean “Diddy” Combs, R. Kelly, Ghislaine Maxwell and Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán.

While 6ix9ine’s sentence is relatively short, the setting has prompted online commentary, with some fans likening the inmate roster to a real-life “Arkham Asylum.”
