Elderly woman mauled to death by stray dogs
An elderly woman was mauled to death by a pack of stray dogs in the suburban area of Kasi Sadiq Wah on Friday.
The victim was identified as Nazirian Bibi. She was returning to her home after visiting her ailing daughter when she was suddenly attacked by a group of 15 to 20 stray dogs.
The dogs reportedly mauled her repeatedly, causing severe injuries that led to her death on the spot.
Residents said that incidents of stray dog attacks have increased alarmingly in recent days in the area.
Locals claimed that the same dogs had previously attacked several residents and livestock, but no effective preventive measures were taken by the concerned authorities.
"The situation has become extremely dangerous. Our children, women and elderly people are at constant risk," said a local resident, adding that repeated complaints to the relevant departments had gone unaddressed.
Assistant Commissioner Mailsi Saad bin Khalid, DSP Chaudhry Saeed Ahmed Sial, Tehsildar Malik Abdul Hameed and other officials visited the site after the incident.
