Peshawar makes taxi registration, QR code stickers mandatory
Also closes over 100 illegal transport services to address traffic congestion

The Peshawar administration has issued orders to register private taxis, introduce standardised uniforms and colour schemes, and immediately close over 100 illegal transport services as part of efforts to address traffic congestion and provide safer travel options to citizens.
The directives were issued following a meeting led by Peshawar Division Commissioner and Regional Transport Authority chairman Riaz Khan Mahsud. The meeting, focused on improving traffic management and ensuring better public transportation facilities, saw several crucial decisions.
According to the decisions, all private taxis operating in Peshawar, will now be required to register with the Excise Department. Registered taxis will be given a uniform colour and will display special stickers containing QR codes. Taxis operating without registration or stickers will face legal action, including fines and vehicle confiscation.
