SARAI MUGHAL:

Armed robbers looted vegetable and fruit vendors in the outskirts of Saraye Mughal on Tuesday.

Police said the incident occurred near Gopay Ra on Sheikhum Road, where two armed assailants intercepted more than 10 vegetable and fruit vendors at gunpoint in the early hours of the morning.

The victims, who earn their living by selling vegetables and fruit door to door and in local markets, were on their way to the vegetable market to purchase produce for the day.

The robbers reportedly held the vendors hostage and snatched thousands of rupees in cash along with mobile phones.

The money looted included the vendors’ pooled savings, collected specifically to buy vegetables and fruit for resale.
