The Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) on Thursday seized a large quantity of adulterated milk from over a dozen milkmen, before spilling it out in a water channel. The TMA, upon receiving several complaints, deputed Price Magistrate Muhammad Abrar Alvi to keep a check on the liquid. Alvi, along with his staff tested the milk brought to the city by 17 milkmen belonging to different villages. During the inspection, he found that the liquid was adulterated with chemicals and substandard powdered milk to make the commodity thick. He also found some milkmen using unhygienic water to increase the quantity of milk. Those found guilty were fined Rs30,000 by the magistrate, who spilled out 1.2 tons of milk costing Rs72,000 in a water channel. He also warned the milkmen of taking severe action involving a jail sentence in future.
