RAWALPINDI:

The Rawalpindi District Health Authority has launched a plan to recruit 1,300 women health inspectors next year to provide healthcare services to women at their doorstep.

As part of the initiative, Clinics on Wheels are being expanded from the district level to the tehsil level, while healthcare services at Maryam Nawaz Health Centres have been upgraded.

According to officials, revamping work has been completed for the buildings of nine Maryam Nawaz Health Centres and 51 Maryam Nawaz Health Clinics in Rawalpindi district, which were already operating on an outsourced basis. So far, a total of 92 Maryam Nawaz Health Clinics have been made functional through outsourcing, while the process of outsourcing additional clinics is under way.

To provide women with doorstep medical check-ups, vaccinations, medical advice, essential tests and, where required, transportation from home to hospitals, a system of 1,300 women community health inspectors has been established.

Of these, 200 qualified Lady Health Visitors have already been recruited, while the recruitment of the remaining 1,100 community health inspectors will be completed soon.
