Capital to get modern convention centre

ISLAMABAD:

A development meeting reviewed the establishment of a modern convention centre and expo centre in the federal capital, Islamabad.

CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa said that the completion of this project must be ensured prior to hosting international conferences, including upcoming SCO meetings.

During the briefing, it was discussed that proposals regarding the selection of a suitable location for the construction of the convention and expo centre are under consideration.

It was noted that the ideal location should ensure easy public access and provide better parking facilities while also maintaining international standards must be considered in the construction of the convention centre and expo centre.

The meeting also reviewed the construction of a luxury hotel in Islamabad to promote the hospitality industry in the federal capital. CDA Chairman directed that the tendering process for this project be expedited so that its formal commencement can be made possible next year.

He further said that through these efforts, along with the beautification and development of Islamabad City, its capacity to host international events is being enhanced, adding that the completion of these mega projects will transform the Federal Capital, Islamabad, into a hub for international and national events, tourism and diplomatic activities.
