Finneas defends Billie Eilish amid criticism over restocked UNO collaboration
The move drew backlash from some social media users in light of her Eilish's stance on wealth and capitalism

Finneas recently came to his sister Billie Eilish's defence after she faced online criticism linked to the restocking of her collaboration with UNO, prompting debate over her public stance on wealth and capitalism.
The singer, who has previously spoken critically about billionaires and wealth inequality, announced that her exclusive UNO deck with Mattel had been restocked ahead of the Christmas period. The move drew backlash from some social media users, who questioned the decision in light of her past comments and charitable giving.
Eilish has been vocal about the responsibility of the wealthy to support others. Speaking at the WSJ Magazine Innovator Awards in October, she told attendees, “We're in a time right now where the world is really, really bad and really dark and people need empathy and help more than, kind of, ever, especially in our country. I'd say if you have money, it would be great to use it for good things, maybe give it to some people that need it.”
She added, “Love you all, but there's a few people in here that have a lot more money than me. If you're a billionaire, why are you a billionaire? No hate, but yeah, give your money away, shorties.”
Following the UNO restock announcement, one post accused the singer of hypocrisy, while others described her as an “anti-capitalist queen” engaging in capitalist behaviour.
Finneas responded directly on Threads, defending his sister’s actions. “You guys do know that in order to give money away, you do have to make the money in the first place, right?” he wrote.
Supporters echoed the sentiment, noting Eilish’s history of donations, including a reported $11.5 million given to charitable causes.
One user commented that the scale of billionaire wealth compared to personal earnings was being overlooked, while another wrote, “She already donated 25% of her net worth. Y’all will never be satisfied and always find something to nit pick.”
