KARACHI:

Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar on Tuesday urged traders to report extortion cases directly to police instead of holding press conferences, assuring that strict action would be taken not only against extortionists but also against those who harbour or facilitate them.

Speaking at a press conference at the Central Police Office alongside IGP Ghulam Nabi Memon, the minister said that red warrants for notorious extortionist Wasiullah Lakho had reached the Interpol headquarters, while similar warrants against other suspects would be issued shortly.

Minister Lanjar briefed the media on police operations against criminals in the katcha and riverine areas, acknowledging the support of the Punjab police in the recovery of abductees. He praised the coordinated efforts of the Sindh police, Pakistan Rangers (Sindh), Punjab police and intelligence agencies, terming recent operations a major success.
