RAWALPINDI:

Judge Muhammad Akmal Khan of the Special Anti-Narcotics Court on Tuesday acquitted Muhammad Asim, a booking clerk, in a case relating to the alleged international trafficking of 8.55 kilograms of heroin through an international cargo service.

During the hearing, Shanzeib Khan, Advocate of the Supreme Court, contended that a booking clerk bears no legal responsibility for the contents of consignments.

He argued that accountability rests with the owner or management of the cargo company, and that the arrest of a low-ranking clerical employee amounted to a serious miscarriage of justice. The defence maintained that the accused had no association with the narcotics.
