SIALKOT:

“The process of anti-dengue fumigation is snail-paced due to an acute shortage of fumigation machines in the district. The Sialkot office has only five fumigation machines, two of which are lying out of order for the last few months,” District Health Officer (DHO) Dr Fayyaz Ahmed Butt said on Thursday. He was talking to reporters to brief them about plans for fumigating the Sialkot district.

He said that the Sialkot Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) has borrowed one machine on recommendation of District Coordination Officer Mujahid Sher Dil.

Dr Butt said that the Health Department will fumigate the rural areas and the TMAs will take responsibility of all the urban areas.

However, he said that fumigating the entire district with only three machines was a very difficult task, ‘but not impossible.’

In Daska, he said, the TMA has a spraying machine that will be used along the fogging machine in the area.
