First-Ever: Initial work on coal power plant finished

LAHORE: Punjab Industrial Estates (PIE) has completed the initial work at the first 50-megawatt coal power generation plant in Sundar Industrial Estate, PIE Chairman SM Tanveer said on Thursday. Talking to Lahore Economic Journalists Association, he said the licence from National Electric Power Company (Nepra) would soon be acquired. “The PIE board of directors has set up a power committee, which will look after power-related projects of industrial estates,” he said. Tanveer said the extension work of 132KVA grid station of PIE was also underway, which would generate additional 34MW to ensure uninterrupted power to Sundar Industrial Estate (SIE). He said PIE had also started the industrial estate development work in Bhalwal and Rahimyar Khan with its own resources, adding that the development process for ten other industrial estates had also been started.
