Bethesda updates fans on The Elder Scrolls VI, saying "going to take our time"
Bethesda confirms ongoing development of The Elder Scrolls VI, taking "as long as it needs to be great"

Bethesda has provided an update on the development of The Elder Scrolls VI during conversations for Game Informer's latest Fallout retrospective. The game, initially announced in 2018, has seen little public information since, but key studio figures shared insights into its progress.
Studio Director Angela Browder reflected on the evolution of the Elder Scrolls universe, highlighting advances in hardware and rendering.
She said, “It’s wonderful to be back in this Elder Scrolls universe. As the internet likes to tell us, it’s been a while. And the industry and the hardware and all of this have made such huge leaps and bounds since the last time we made one of these, like, I’m actively excited about what’s in front of us, because the opportunities, the hardware, the rendering, all of this stuff has just… the possibilities are crazy!”
Browder added that long-time fans will be able to appreciate the technological and creative progress when the game is released.
Director and Executive Producer Todd Howard stated that the majority of the studio is currently focused on The Elder Scrolls VI. He noted that the team is accustomed to overlapping development cycles and emphasised the importance of careful pre-production, explaining, “We all wish it went a little bit faster – or a lot faster – but it’s a process that we want to get right.”
Studio Design Director Emil Pagliarulo addressed player expectations, noting that the team does not rush development despite external pressure.
“Games take a long time, and games get pushed all the time… We’re going to take our time and as long as it needs to be great,” he said, underlining Bethesda’s commitment to delivering a polished experience.
