Police link killings to financial disputes, personal grudges

Three people, including a security guard, were killed in separate incidents of violence across Faisalabad, allegedly triggered by financial disputes and old enmities, police said on Sunday.
In the first incident, a 30-year-old security guard, Amir Hamza, was shot dead during a clash near the Blue Star petrol pump on Sheikhupura Road in the jurisdiction of Millat Town police station.
Police said the suspects, identified as Ali Hamza and Usman along with others, opened fire during an altercation, critically injuring Amir Hamza.
He sustained gunshot wounds to the head and succumbed to his injuries while being shifted to the hospital.
Millat Town police reached the spot after receiving information, took the body into custody and handed it over to the victim's family after post-mortem examination. A search for the suspects is under way.
In another incident within the limits of Tarkhani police station, a man was killed after refusing to assist in an attempted attack on a former nazim. Police said the suspect, Khalil Ahmed, set out on a motorcycle with his friend Shahid with the intention of killing the former nazim in Chak 46-G/B.
The attack on the target's vehicle failed and the former nazim narrowly escaped unharmed.
Police said Shahid later refused to continue supporting Khalil Ahmed, prompting the suspect to open fire on his own accomplice. Shahid was critically injured and shifted to hospital, where he died after battling for his life.
Police took the body into custody and, on the statement of the victim's father, Bashir Ahmed, registered a case against Khalil Ahmed. Efforts are ongoing to arrest the accused.
In a third incident, a man was allegedly poisoned to death over a monetary dispute in the area of Thikriwala police station.
