Nick Reiner’s past remarks on addiction resurface as he is investigated in parents’ deaths
Earlier interviews with Nick Reiner are drawing renewed attention as authorities continue to examine the case

As authorities investigate the deaths of filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, past public comments made by their son, Nick Reiner, about his struggles with addiction have resurfaced. Nick Reiner is currently being investigated as a suspect in the case, according to law enforcement sources, though no charges have been filed.
In a 2016 interview with People, Nick Reiner spoke openly about a long history of substance abuse, repeated rehabilitation stays, and a period of homelessness after he declined further treatment. He said he entered his first rehab program as a teenager and cycled through numerous facilities over several years.
Nick recalled that one of the most difficult periods of his life came after he refused to return to rehab, a decision that left him without stable housing. He said he lived on the streets and in shelters across multiple states, describing the experience as dangerous and unstable.
Reflecting on that time, Nick said the experience forced him to confront the consequences of his choices. He later returned to Los Angeles and focused on rebuilding his life, maintaining sobriety, and pursuing creative work.
Those remarks have gained renewed attention as investigators continue to examine the circumstances surrounding Rob and Michele Reiner’s deaths. Authorities have said the investigation remains ongoing and have not released further details.
