Amy Schumer and her husband, chef Chris Fischer, have ended their marriage after more than seven years together.

Schumer confirmed the split in an Instagram post on Friday, December 12, sharing a photo of herself, Fischer, and their son, Gene, on the New York City subway. In her caption, the comedian said the decision was mutual and emphasized that the pair remain focused on co-parenting their child.

“We love each other very much and will continue to focus on raising our son,” Schumer wrote, adding that the separation is amicable and rooted in “love and respect.”

A source close to the former couple echoed that sentiment, telling People the breakup was smooth and cooperative. “There’s nothing ugly. It’s a cohesive split,” the source said, noting that the two have been privately finalizing details.

Schumer, 44, and Fischer, 45, were first linked in 2017 and married in February 2018. They welcomed their son Gene in May 2019. Over the past several weeks, speculation about the state of their relationship had circulated online, which Schumer previously addressed in Instagram posts, asking for privacy while acknowledging that they were working through personal matters.

Earlier this month, Schumer also clarified that any changes in her marriage were unrelated to her recent weight loss or discussions about autism, calling Fischer “the best” and expressing hope at the time that they would work things out.

The pair were last seen together publicly in June at the Tribeca Film Festival premiere of the documentary Room to Move.
