After more than 25 years in the underground, one of dance music’s most iconic bootlegs has been officially released with the blessing of rock legends The Rolling Stones. DJ and producer Fatboy Slim has finally released Satisfaction Skank, a mashup combining his 1998 hit The Rockafeller Skank with the iconic guitar riff from The Rolling Stones’ 1965 classic “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction.”

The track had long circulated in DJ sets, bootlegs, and early internet file-sharing culture, but never saw an official release due to rights issues.

Originally created in the late 1990s, Satisfaction Skank became a cult favorite whenever Fatboy Slim played it live. Despite enthusiastic responses from crowds, and reportedly from Mick Jagger himself, The Rolling Stones’ management repeatedly declined sample clearance requests for over two decades.

In a major development, the band has now approved the use of their riff and even provided Fatboy Slim with the original master stems to recreate the track in the highest quality possible. The newly official version has been released through Southern Fried Records, preserving the energy that made the mashup famous while offering a polished sound for modern platforms.

The release reflects broader changes in how legacy artists approach sampling, reuse, and cross-genre collaboration. For Fatboy Slim, it marks the long-awaited realisation of a dream, giving fans and DJs the chance to enjoy the track officially after decades of anticipation.
