Percy Jackson cast discuss Greek myths and new themes ahead of season two return
Percy Jackson cast members discuss Greek mythology and season two themes in new National Geographic interview

The cast of Percy Jackson and the Olympians are offering insight into the Greek mythology themes that will feature in the upcoming season of the Disney series.
In an interview hosted by Kenny Curtis, National Geographic’s mythology expert and presenter of the Greeking Out podcast, actors Aryan Simhadri and Daniel Diemer discussed key mythological elements that viewers can expect to see when the show returns.
The Golden Fleece, one of the most recognised artefacts in Greek mythology, will play a prominent role in the new season. Known as the enchanted hide of a golden ram, the Fleece is central to the tale of Jason and the Argonauts, who set out on a quest to retrieve it and reclaim Jason’s throne.
Its appearance in the series provided Curtis with the opportunity to explore the actors’ understanding of Greek myths and their relevance to the storyline.
Simhadri, who portrays Grover, and Diemer, who plays Tyson, talked about the traditional purpose of the Golden Fleece and how the show interprets it within its narrative.
They also discussed the depiction of the Greek goddess Circe, comparing her portrayal in classical literature with her representation in the series. Curtis encouraged the actors to reflect on how mythological figures are adapted for modern audiences, a topic that frequently features in his podcast.
The interview also included more light-hearted moments, with the actors sharing which animal they would most like to be transformed into, drawing parallels to the transformative themes found throughout Greek mythology.
Season two of Percy Jackson and the Olympians is currently premiering on Disney+. The series continues to adapt Rick Riordan’s popular novels for a new generation of viewers. Disney is the parent company of National Geographic.
