Kathryn Newton overjoyed to work with Sarah Michelle Gellar in "Ready or Not 2"

Supernatural actress recalls falling on the floor because of Gellar being a huge inspiration of hers

Kathryn Newton had a moment of sheer disbelief when she learned that her childhood idol, Sarah Michelle Gellar, would be joining the cast of Ready or Not 2.

"We shot the movie in Toronto, and I was doing rehearsal with Samara and Matt and Tyler, the directors," Newton recalled. "I saw Sarah Michelle Gellar’s photo on the wall and I was like, ‘She’s in the movie?’ They were like, ‘Yeah, we just got her yesterday.’ And I literally fell on the floor because Buffy the Vampire Slayer is a huge inspiration of mine."

Newton said she has long admired Gellar, calling her a “huge inspiration,” and the chance to work with her on the sequel was a surreal experience. She added that the cast had a supportive and collaborative atmosphere, making the filming process both exciting and fun.

The sequel brings back the darkly comedic horror of the original 2019 film, with Newton reprising her role. While Gellar’s character details remain under wraps, her involvement adds an extra layer of excitement for fans of the franchise.
