Kate Winslet has shared a surprising story from her time hosting Saturday Night Live in 2004, revealing an unusual request from Eminem. The Oscar-winning actress recounted the incident on The Graham Norton Show, calling it one of her most unexpected hosting moments.

Winslet explained that the episode aired the week after Ashlee Simpson’s notorious lip-sync mishap, and she was already feeling nervous about hosting. The addition of Eminem as her co-performer, she said, “cranked the unpredictability to a new level.”

During rehearsals, Winslet said Eminem asked if she would be willing to “shave his bottom like he was asking for a coffee refill.” Winslet responded immediately that she does not perform personal grooming and told Norton’s audience she would not “go in with a Bick” for him. She also revealed that she had never shared the story publicly before.

The actress added that her appearances on The Graham Norton Show often carry a “poo-bum theme,” noting that this experience far surpassed her previous on-stage mishaps. At the time, she was promoting the film Finding Neverland.

Winslet described hosting SNL as “terrifying,” recalling that she had limited interaction with the writers, including Seth Meyers, and was initially unsure about her opening monologue.

She said the team simply asked if she could sing and tap dance, which she agreed to, and she later discovered she would perform a song-and-dance number referencing Simpson’s incident.

Despite the stress, Winslet said she “loved” the experience and that the October 30, 2004, episode remains her first and only time hosting SNL.
