Crackdown follows directives from Punjab CM to ensure orderly conduct of social events and prevent unnecessary noise

Punjab government has taken strict action against marriage halls and farmhouses violating government regulations, sealing 14 venues and arresting nine individuals in Lahore for breaching the 'One Dish' policy, timing restrictions, and illegal use of loudspeakers.
The crackdown follows directives from the Punjab chief minister to ensure orderly conduct of social events and curb unnecessary noise.
Deputy Commissioner Lahore Syed Moosa Raza said special teams have been deployed across the city to monitor compliance, with all assistant commissioners instructed to carry out field visits in their respective tehsils.

During the past three days, officials inspected 562 venues and imposed fines amounting to Rs150,000 in Nishtar Town for violations. On December 5 alone, 267 inspections were conducted, and six venues were sealed.
Authorities emphasised that marriage hall owners must strictly follow government SOPs, including restrictions on loud music and limiting to 'One Dish' rule. Night squads are monitoring late-night events, and assistant commissioners are supervising compliance at halls, marquees, and farmhouses.
Officials said the drive aims to maintain public order, enforce legal norms, and promote a peaceful environment during social celebrations.
