Three Gujranwala cops held for alleged extortion, abuse
Citizen alleges police forced him to sign documents, pay heavy bribe

Three police officials, including a Station House Officer (SHO), a Sub-Inspector, and an Assistant Sub-Inspector, were arrested and jailed after being booked for extortion, misuse of authority, and forcibly obtaining signatures from a citizen on a stamp paper.
Police said the case was registered against SHO Sabzi Mandi Inspector Luqman Gondal, Sub-Inspector Farid, and ASI Khalid, who allegedly conducted an illegal raid and brought a local resident, Ghulam Sarwar, to the police station.
The complainant, Ghulam Sarwar, submitted a written application to City Police Officer (CPO) Gujranwala, Rana Ayaz Saleem, alleging that he was detained at the police station and forced to sign a stamp paper under duress in the presence of the SHO.
He further accused the officers of demanding and receiving a heavy bribe while threatening to implicate him in a false criminal case.
Taking notice of the complaint, CPO Rana Ayaz Saleem ordered SSP Operations Ghiyoor Ahmad Khan to conduct an immediate inquiry into the incident.
