RAWALPINDI:

Despite directives from the Punjab Higher Education Department, a junior officer reportedly continues to hold three key posts in the education department.

Khattak, initially serving as Deputy Director Colleges Rawalpindi, was given additional charge of Director Colleges Rawalpindi Division — a Grade 20 post — several months ago. Later, he was also handed charge of the Secretary, Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Rawalpindi, with full powers and perks.

When contacted, Punjab Higher Education Secretary Ghulam Fareed Sheikh said the matter had now come to his notice and a new decision would be made next week.

Khattak, however, maintained that he had been assigned these responsibilities officially and could not refuse government orders.

The Professors and Lecturers Association condemned the move, calling it "illegal and unethical" to place a junior officer above senior officials in Grade 19 and 20.
