Wendy Williams reportedly no longer has frontotemporal dementia as new neurologist challenges 2023 diagnosis
Wendy Williams’ new medical evaluation reportedly disputes her 2023 dementia diagnosis

A new medical evaluation has reportedly contradicted Wendy Williams’ 2023 diagnosis of frontotemporal dementia, raising questions about the legitimacy of the former talk show host’s ongoing legal guardianship. According to TMZ, a neurologist who recently conducted updated tests concluded that the 61-year-old media personality does not have the degenerative brain condition.
Williams’ initial diagnosis, which also included aphasia, was made public in 2023 through a press release shared by People. At the time, the statement said the conditions had affected her cognitive abilities and communication skills. Frontotemporal dementia, according to the Cleveland Clinic, is a progressive neurological disorder that can impair executive function, alter social behavior, and cause physical symptoms such as involuntary muscle movements.
In 2022, Williams was placed under legal guardianship after concerns were raised about her health and ability to manage her affairs. The reported diagnosis was cited as part of the justification for the arrangement. However, the new medical findings have sparked renewed debate over whether the guardianship should continue.
TMZ reported that Williams has shown “remarkable neurological resilience” since becoming sober three years ago. Her legal team is now reportedly preparing to petition a judge to terminate the guardianship. If the request is denied, her attorneys are expected to demand a jury trial to reevaluate her legal and medical status.
In March, Williams gave an interview to Page Six, where she described herself as feeling “fabulous,” signaling that she was doing well despite ongoing speculation about her health. In August, a judge upheld her guardianship following additional medical testing, though People reported that those evaluations did not specifically confirm a dementia diagnosis.
