Pak-Turkey Relations: Army launches joint training exercise

Special Forces of Pakistan and Turkey conduct joint training exercises each year.

RAWALPINDI: The opening ceremony of Pakistan-Turkey joint training exercise Ataturk-VIII-2011 was launched by Lieutenant General Waheed Arshad, Chief of General Staff at Cherat on Wednesday, according to a press release.

While addressing the participating troops, he said that Pakistan and Turkey had a special relationship which had stood the test of time. Urging the troops to excel in their field, he said that troops of both countries must benefit from each other’s combat experiences.

Special Forces of Pakistan and Turkey conduct joint training exercises each year, held alternately in Pakistan and Turkey. The exercises held in Pakistan are named ‘Ataturk’, while those held in Turkey are known as ‘Jinnah’.
