ATC seeks case property in May 9 attack

PESHAWAR:

The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Peshawar on Wednesday directed the SHO of East Cantt Police Station to present the case property at the next hearing in the case pertaining to the May 9 attack on Radio Pakistan. The court adjourned further proceedings until November 10.

The case was heard by ATC Judge Wali Muhammad Khan. During the hearing, the prosecution informed the court that on May 9, 2023, enraged protesters attacked and set fire to the Radio Pakistan building following the arrest of PTI founder chairman Imran Khan.

A case was registered at East Cantt Police Station against 80 accused individuals, including provincial minister Meena Khan Afridi and MPAs Fazal Elahi, Asif Khan, Taimur Saleem Jhagra, and Kamran Bangash. The prosecution further stated that nine of the accused are still absconding and have not appeared before the court.

During the trial, the statement of prosecution witness DSP Noor Haider was recorded. The court directed the prosecution to produce remaining witnesses and the case property at the next hearing.
