City Hall echoes with discontent over hefty e-challans
KMC Council passes resolution with majority vote against the new traffic ticketing system

The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) Council held its general session on Friday at the City Council Hall, chaired by Deputy Mayor Salman Abdullah Murad. A total of 20 resolutions were approved during the meeting, including eight passed unanimously and twelve by majority vote, while one was deferred to the next session.
A key resolution, passed by majority vote, expressed strong reservations over the imposition of heavy fines through e-challan notices for traffic violations in Karachi. The Council urged the Sindh government to withdraw the notification, stating that citizens are already burdened by inflation and that such penalties were unjust and anti-people measures.
At the outset, the Council passed a condolence resolution over the demise of former Sindh Assembly Speaker and senior PPP leader Agha Siraj Durrani, paying tribute to his political and parliamentary services and expressing sympathy with the bereaved family.
Another resolution, passed unanimously, condemned India's illegal occupation of Jammu and Kashmir and expressed solidarity with the Kashmiri people. The Council called upon the international community to resolve the Kashmir issue in accordance with United Nations Security Council resolutions. Another resolution, also passed unanimously, approved the allotment of two plots in Gulistan-e-Mazdoor to The Citizens Foundation (TCF) for the establishment of primary and secondary schools on an annual lease basis.
