Dwayne Johnson is officially returning to Disney with a brand-new animated role in Zootopia 2, nearly a decade after the original film became a global hit.

Disney confirmed that Johnson will voice a new character named Zeke, an accident-prone dik-dik who gets caught up in chaos after a high-speed chase involving Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde takes a hilarious turn.

The highly anticipated sequel to Disney’s 2016 blockbuster Zootopia is set to hit theaters on November 26. The original movie grossed over $1 billion worldwide on a $105 million budget, becoming one of Walt Disney Animation Studios’ most successful titles and winning the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature.

Zootopia 2 reunites fans with beloved characters Judy Hopps (voiced by Ginnifer Goodwin) and Nick Wilde (voiced by Jason Bateman) as they tackle a brand-new mystery that’s bigger, riskier, and full of surprises. The film also welcomes returning cast member Idris Elba as Chief Bogo, along with newcomers Ke Huy Quan (Gary), Fortune Feimster (Nibbles), and Andy Samberg (Pawbert Lynxley).

Directed by Jared Bush and Byron Howard, who previously worked together on Encanto and Moana, the sequel aims to blend heartfelt storytelling with the humor and world-building that made the original a fan favorite.

Speaking about creating a sequel, Bush said, “Sequels are tricky. Audiences want familiarity but also expect growth. The key is ensuring any evolution feels earned and true to the story.”

With Dwayne Johnson joining the voice cast and Disney’s proven track record of animated success, Zootopia 2 is shaping up to be another billion-dollar blockbuster in the making.
