British singer-songwriter Raye has shared an uplifting update nearly a year after her car — containing her prized songwriting books — was stolen.

The artist confirmed that police recovered both the vehicle and the books completely intact, giving her long-delayed second album a new lease on life.

Raye revealed the news during an appearance on The Official Big Top 40 From Global, explaining that she received a surprise call from police a few months ago.

“They were like, ‘We found your car,’” Raye said. “Not only did I get it back, but not one thing had been taken out. All my songwriting books were there, untouched.”

The theft last October had devastated the “Escapism” star, who shared the news on Instagram during her 27th birthday, writing, “No second album any time soon, love you bye.” At the time, her creative process came to a halt after the loss of her handwritten lyrics and compositions.

Now 28, Raye says she’s spending her new year back in the studio, ready to finish the record she once feared was lost forever. “I’m writing a lot. Can’t wait to show you this music, just need to finish it all first,” she posted.

The timing couldn’t be better — Raye’s single “Where Is My Husband” continues to climb the Billboard Hot 100, and she’s set to kick off her biggest North American tour in March 2026, with stops at Radio City Music Hall and The Greek Theatre.

Reflecting on her journey, Raye summed it up simply:

“Everything ended well. Never give up hope.”
