72 Punjab tehsils declared calamity-hit
The Punjab Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a notification declaring 72 tehsils across 27 districts as calamity-hit areas, following widespread damage caused by recent floods.
According to the PDMA spokesperson, areas where more than 50 percent of localities were affected have been officially declared disaster zones. The notification was issued jointly by the Punjab Board of Revenue and the PDMA under the Punjab National Calamities (Prevention and Relief) Act, 1958.
District administrations have been instructed to accelerate relief and rehabilitation efforts and to complete damage assessments and financial assistance for affected families at the earliest.
The Punjab relief commissioner has formed monitoring teams.
