A TikTok streamer shot by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent during an operation in South Los Angeles is now facing federal charges for allegedly assaulting a federal officer.

According to a federal criminal complaint, 44-year-old Carlitos Ricardo Parias rammed his car into law enforcement vehicles as ICE and U.S. Marshals attempted to arrest him during an immigration enforcement operation on Monday. The incident also left a deputy U.S. marshal wounded.

The operation was part of the Trump administration’s intensified immigration crackdown, which has drawn widespread criticism from immigrant rights groups and local community advocates. Authorities claim Parias’ actions endangered multiple officers and led to the use of deadly force.

Law enforcement sources said agents had boxed in Parias’ vehicle when he allegedly accelerated, colliding with their cars. An ICE agent opened fire, striking Parias, who was later taken to a nearby hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The wounded marshal was also hospitalized in stable condition.

Parias is expected to appear in federal court on Wednesday, where he faces one count of assaulting a federal officer with a deadly weapon. If convicted, he could face a lengthy prison sentence.

The Los Angeles Police Department and Department of Justice are conducting joint investigations into the incident to determine whether the use of force was justified.

The case has sparked renewed debate over the use of lethal force in immigration operations, as critics question the necessity of aggressive tactics in densely populated neighborhoods like South L.A.
