Roblox faces criminal subpoena from Florida Attorney General over child safety investigation
Florida Attorney General issues criminal subpoena to Roblox amid investigation into child safety concerns

Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier has issued a criminal subpoena to Roblox following allegations that the gaming platform has enabled predatory behaviour targeting children.
Uthmeier announced the action in a video shared on his X account on October 20, stating that the subpoenas will allow prosecutors to collect information to support ongoing investigations into online child exploitation. He said the move was part of a broader effort to hold companies accountable for endangering young users.
“Roblox profited off of our kids while exposing them to the most dangerous of harms,” Uthmeier said. “They enabled our kids to be abused. Companies like Roblox have become breeding grounds for predators to get to and have access to our kids.” He pledged to “stop at nothing” to protect children online and criticised firms that “act carelessly” in safeguarding minors.
Roblox has responded to the subpoena, confirming its cooperation with the investigation. In a statement to the Florida Phoenix, the company said, “We share Attorney General Uthmeier’s commitment to keeping kids safe and we will continue to assist his office in their investigations.”
Roblox added that it works closely with law enforcement and invests in advanced moderation systems, including filters to block personal information and features to prevent image or video sharing.
This is not the first time Uthmeier has targeted Roblox. Earlier in April, his office issued a civil subpoena requesting detailed information on users under 16, parental controls, and marketing practices.
The latest development comes amid growing scrutiny of Roblox’s safety record. The platform has faced lawsuits from parents and state governments and was banned in Qatar in August 2025. Roblox maintains that it remains committed to improving safety and protecting its young community.
